On Sunday, March 7th, 2021 the Brooklyn Nets have agreed upon terms to sign the former NBA All – Star forward and NBA Rookie of the Year award winner, Blake Griffin, to a contract to play for the Brooklyn Nets for the remainder of the 2020 – 2021 NBA season. Griffin had been previously playing for the Detroit Pistons, but the Detroit Pistons accepted a buyout for Blake offered to them by the Brooklyn Nets. Griffin had generated a lot of interest from the majority of NBA’s best playoff contending teams, and he cleared waivers last Sunday night after agreeing to the buyout of the remaining $56.5 million left on his contract with the Detroit Pistons.

The New Look Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets were seemingly one of the powerhouse teams in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association by just having players such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving healthy and eager to perform during the 2020 – 2021 NBA season. Then, the Nets traded for James Harden earlier this year which then propelled them to an NBA super – team which should be enough to scare all teams in the league. Especially some of the best teams in the Western Conference of the NBA like the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Utah Jazz, the Phoenix Suns, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Denver Nuggets. Now with the acquisition of Blake Griffin they basically have an NBA All – Star team on their fully loaded line up.

Look for the Brooklyn Nets to be playing at all time high and elite level at the end of the 2020 – 2021 NBA regular season as they begin preparing for battle in the 2021 NBA playoffs. They are not only a good all – around basketball team, but they are a whole lot of fun to watch ball night in and night out. I am very excited to see that there is not just one super – team in the National Basketball Association like there was when the Miami Heat had LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. It is great for both the NBA as well as basketball fans all over the world that the talent in the league is spread out well and the Eastern and Western Conferences are much more balanced than they were in the past recently.

Blake Griffin will offer the Brooklyn Nets…

…a power forward or a small – ball center that is very much a team player these days. Although Griffin is not the high – flying scorer who was posterizing opponents in the paint for years, he has adapted his game to fit today’s style of play. He now has developed a nice 3 – point shot, and he creates great opportunities for his teammates as he has become much better at sharing the ball and finding open buckets for his teammates. With the amount of fire power on this Brooklyn Nets squad already they don’t necessarily need another big – name scorer like another James Harden type player. Griffin will be a fantastic fit for this now NBA championship contending Brooklyn Nets basketball team. So far, this 2020 – 2021 NBA season with the Detroit Pistons Blake is averaging 12.3 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, and 3.9 assists per game.
