On March 27th, Rush Street Interactive (RSI), a flagship online casino and sports betting operator based in Chicago, Illinois, decided together with Connecticut Lottery Corporation (CLC) to end their online and in-person sports wagering partnership in Connecticut.

Continuation of state lottery sports betting services management:

RSI will carry on with a management of in-person and online sports wagering in Connecticut on behalf of CLC till a replacement is chosen, while the CLC will begin seeking a new sportsbook partner via a request for proposals in the coming days.

At this time, both RSI and CLC anticipate transitioning their existing sports wagering operations throughout the second half of 2023.

Commenting on the end of the partnership, Richard Schwartz, CEO of RSI, said: “We thank the CLC for their partnership over the last two years. We are proud of what we have accomplished together in Connecticut and have enjoyed the relationships that we have built with the players. Consistent with our long-term strategic goals, after much deliberation and discussions with the CLC, we believe it is in the best interest of RSI and our stockholders to wind down this partnership.

“As is consistent with nearly everything we do at RSI, both RSI and the CLC remain committed to putting our players first. Through the transition we plan to continue to support all player wagers and ensure a positive player experience and expect the changeover will have an immaterial impact on our guidance for 2023.”

Gregory Smith, CLC President, added: “We thank RSI for working closely with CLC to establish the foundation for CLC’s sports betting operation, both online and in retail.”

Retail sports betting locations will continue to operate as normal:

Until CLC selects a new sports wagering partner, the 9 Connecticut retail sports wagering locations and PlaySugarHouse.com will resume working normally.

As soon as CLC choose a new operator, these operations will be transferred to that operator.

Furthermore, players on the PlaySugarHouse.com online platform and 9 retail sports wagering sites may rest assured that all bets placed will stand and any winnings will be paid out as usual.

However, RSI and CLC continue to have a close working relationship to keep at minimum any possible disruption to players or business partners once operations are suspended.

Additionally, players with an unanswered questions can contact RSI’s one of a kind 24/7 customer service at 1-800-622-0163.

Further information regarding the timing of the selection of a new sportsbook partner and the transition of online and retail sports betting to that operator will be released by the CLC once the details of the transition are decided.
