First timers to the World Series of Poker this year may not notice the changes made to the popular poker series but veterans are more than likely to notice the subtle differences to the 2017 events. After announcing the new media deal with Poker Central and the end of the November Nine, it seems even more changes are coming to the WSOP. The changes are only minor but are sure to be noticed as the series gets underway at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas later on this month.

In the past, the ESPN feature table has been located in the Amazon Room of the gaming venue. The WSOP has now decided to move this table to the Brasilia Room which is located across the hall. Since the WSOP has operated at the Rio, the bracelet event final tables as well as televised events have taken place in the Amazon Room.

Another change to the WSOP is that Kings Casino Rozvadov of the Czech Republic will be the sponsor of the 2017 WSOP Player of the Year award. The casino is known to be home to one of the most popular poker rooms in all of Europe. The player of the year for 2017 will win seats to the 2018 WSOP Main Event as well as the WSOP Europe Main Event. The WSOP Europe will play a factor in the point totals for Player of the Year with the winner decided once the European WSOP finishes up.

The first official event of the 2017 WSOP begins on May 31st at 11:00am with Event #1 the $565 Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em tournament. On the same day, Event #2 will also get started, the $10,000 Tag Team No-limit Hold’em Championship. The schedule will then continue throughout the month into June and July, offering players quality poker tournament events.
