Talk about waiting until the last minute! The Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City is set to open on June 28th and the venue has yet to obtain a gaming license in New Jersey. Today, representatives of the casino will be attending a special hearing with the Casino Control Commission and hopefully, will be granted the casino license needed to begin gaming when opening day rolls around.

According to New Jersey Gambling Sites, Daniel Henigan, a spokesperson for the Casino Control Commission, stated that the Commission will be hearing testimony from Ocean Resort, with the company set to discuss their plans to ‘meet the burden of operating a casino.’ Once this is completed, the Commission will discuss what they have heard and then make a decision about the gaming license.

AC Ocean Walk, the owner of the Ocean Resort Casino, purchased the property earlier in the year, a casino that was formerly known as Revel. The owners of the Ocean Resort, have had around six months to get everything together to open by the end of June. While the casino gaming license was not obtained, the facility did have the licensing needed for the property in place as well as making sure the building was up to code.

To be able to obtain a casino gaming license, a hearing had to be requested with the Commission. The hearing is the last step the casino has to make in order to begin offering gaming services. The Commission will have to decide if they will approve the venue, based on what they hear during today’s meeting. If, for some reason, the Commission does not provide a license to Ocean Resort, they can file an appeal within a 20 day time frame.

Ocean Resort Casino has been quite busy as they prepare for opening on June 28th. Just recently, it was announced that the casino will be offering sports betting, as a partnership with William Hill US has been created.
