Online casino games developer Pragmatic Play Limited has strengthened its senior team following the appointment of experienced iGaming industry executive Melissa Summerfield as its new Chief Commercial Officer.

Malta-based Pragmatic Play Limited stated that Summerfield has joined its ranks from giant rival Microgaming where she was in charge of all commercial strategies and operational growth duties for Latin America, Gibraltar and Spain as an Operations Vice-President.

Pragmatic Play Limited explained that Summerfield began her career in the iGaming industry some 15 years ago with BetVictor Limited and played a ‘key role’ in helping the Gibraltar-headquartered operator to establish its online casino offering.

The developer additionally revealed that Summerfield subsequently held positions with iGaming operator Party Gaming before moving on to counterpart Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment, which was purchased by GVC Holdings in 2016, for an over four-year stint overseeing its more than 50 brands as Head of Gaming Operations.

Yossi Barzely, Chief Business Development Officer for Pragmatic Play, proclaimed that he is ‘very pleased’ to have Summerfield as a member the company as the ‘depth and quality of her experience’ in the business-to-business and business-to-consumer segments is set to ‘prove invaluable as we continue to expand our operations’.

“We have grown our global footprint with a number of significant operator and supplier integrations in recent months and we will build on this progress in 2018 backed by an accomplished team filled with talent and know-how,” read a Wednesday statement from Barzely.

For her part, Summerfield declared that she is ‘delighted’ to be joining Pragmatic Play Limited’s executive team ‘at such an exciting time’ and is now looking forward to ‘contributing to the company’s huge potential’.
