Hard Rock International has partnered with Misla Hospitality, Stonecrest Investment Management, and The Interfin Companies to build a new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The $850 million development project, slated to open in 2029, marks the company’s first venture into Puerto Rico and signals its expanding global footprint in the hospitality and entertainment sector.
The resort will be located adjacent to San Juan Bay, offering sweeping views of both the bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Designed by Klai Juba Wald and CMA Architects, the property will embrace Puerto Rico’s rich musical and cultural heritage. Artwork from local artists will feature prominently in the design, while the resort will integrate elements of the island’s vibrant rhythm into the experience, creating a unique destination for travelers.
A Bold New Entertainment Hub for Puerto Rico
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino San Juan will offer a blend of hotel rooms, suites, and branded residences, totaling 415 rooms, 58 suites, and 186 residences. The venue will provide a comprehensive travel and entertainment experience as Puerto Rico’s first integrated casino. Guests will enjoy diverse dining options, ranging from poolside casual bites to fine dining, while multiple bars will be scattered throughout the property for added convenience and enjoyment.
For those seeking relaxation, the resort will include the signature Rock Spa and fitness center, complemented by three terrace-level pools. Family-friendly amenities will also be available, with a kids’ club, arcade, and teen hangout spaces designed to cater to younger guests. Additionally, the hotel will house a recording studio, event venues, and showcase local memorabilia, further celebrating Puerto Rico’s music scene.
This $850 million project is expected to generate significant economic benefits for the local community. The construction phase will create more than 2,500 jobs, with an additional 1,250 permanent positions once the resort opens. Hard Rock aims to maximize local engagement through partnerships focused on economic opportunity and community empowerment.
“We are committed to enhancing Puerto Rico’s global tourism profile,” said Willianette Robles Cancel, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, in the company’s press release. The development is expected to boost the island’s tourism, particularly by supporting the cruise industry and enriching the culinary scene. Moreover, Hard Rock International is dedicated to preserving local culture while delivering world-class hospitality and entertainment.
A Commitment to Sustainability and Local Engagement
The project will not only contribute to Puerto Rico’s economy but also prioritize sustainability and cultural preservation. Led by The Interfin Companies, the development team is focused on ensuring the project benefits both the environment and the community. With input from local artists, partners, and leaders, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino San Juan will stand as a testament to Puerto Rico’s heritage while meeting modern tourism and entertainment demands.
Hard Rock’s new hotel and casino will be conveniently located near the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and just steps away from the historic Old San Juan. The area is known for its colorful streets, Spanish colonial architecture, and historic landmarks, making it an ideal destination for both local and international visitors. Guests will have the opportunity to explore San Juan’s cultural richness, including museums, galleries, and fortresses overlooking the sea.
