The Fanatics’ online and retail sports betting division, Fanatics Betting and Gaming, is Maryland’s first legal sports betting operator. Partnership with Washington Commanders helped open a retail sportsbook in the famous NFL Stadium. The access to the FedExField in Maryland was the first success of the Fanatics Sportsbook, making a grand entrance to the legal sports betting market. It is also the formal entry to the market for the Commanders.
Fanatics Sportsbook in Maryland:
Ari Borod, Chief Business Officer at Fanatics Betting and Gaming, said: “We are excited to bring the Fanatics Sportsbook to Maryland at FedExField. Our first retail location, with adjacency to the Commanders Team store, is a physical representation of what Fanatics will deliver to sports fans all over North America.”
“We are rolling out our platform first at retail, and we will have more exciting news to share in the coming months as we bring to market new mobile technology designed to improve the betting experience for sports fans.”
This partnership provides the Washington Commanders with the possibility to work with Minority Business Enterprise from Maryland, as well as the Hamilton Hall Real Estate Partners, LLC (Hamilton Hall), whose leader is Charles Hopkins, a hospitality entrepreneur, and fund manager.
Hopkins said: “It is a special day to see the vision for legal sports wagering advocated by Maryland’s legislative leaders come to fruition here in Prince George’s County. As a native Prince Georgian and minority business owner with deep expertise in hospitality, gaming, and commercial retail, I am honored to join forces with the Washington Commanders and Fanatics Betting and Gaming to offer a best-in-class sports betting experience. I am also grateful to Dan and Tanya Snyder for their leadership and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels of the sports betting business in Maryland.”
The first bet has been placed:
Chris Bryant, a military veteran and Commanders 2022 Fan of the Year placed the first official bet. He placed the bet of $20 @ + 167 on a Moneyline parlay and predicted the winning of the Washington Wizards and the Washington Capitals during the next matchups.
The sportsbook is placed across 5.000 square feet. It consists of eight betting windows and 21 self-service betting kiosks. Additionally, it features two giant LED Video Walls and 38 TV monitors. For the ones who get hungry, a full-service restaurant is available.
Everything on the property is dedicated to nurturing the sports atmosphere: the players can place their bets, buy merchandise and watch a game.
The FedExField offers more than just NFL betting – the players will be able to place bets on many sports, including professional and college football, basketball, hockey, baseball, tennis, soccer, golf, MMA, and boxing.
The sportsbook will be open seven days a week, and working hours are from 10 am to 12 am ET. Food and beverage services will be available, but taking bets on the dates of Washington Commanders home games will be forbidden.
