Today, June 30, the Bad Neuenahr casino, one of Germany’s leading casinos, revealed that it has officially reopened in a new location, following a two-year break imposed by the destructive floods that hit the area two years ago in July. Additionally, that flood caused great damage to the casino, destroying it beyond repair.
New location:
The storm caused the casino to move from the storm-ravaged Kurhaus building located directly on the Ahr River to the railway station, a neo-Gothic building constructed in 1880. However, there are many differences between the old and the new one. One of them is: while the former casino had 150 slot machines, roulette and blackjack tables on a 1,500 square meters gaming floor, the latest casino in the Bad Neuenahr railway station building is significantly smaller, i.e. 600 square meters. As part of the new building, a small railway travel center for train passengers is still intact in its western part.
In this regard, Managing Director Michael Seegert, said: “We hope to be able to generate about 40 per cent of the former turnover at the new location. The long wait is finally over. Two years have passed since the devastating flood disaster in July 2021, and we too had to overcome many problems and unknowns. So we are particularly grateful and happy that we can now operate our casino in the historic train station.”
12 possible locations were analyzed:
Upon the decision of the reopening and the end of the aforementioned floods, the operator analyzed 12 potential sites. In addition, the selected venue now includes 75 slot machines, two roulette tables and two blackjack tables. However, this is almost half of what was offered in the previous casino, but if demand arises, the new current casino may be expanded.
About the old casino:
Based in Bad Neuenahr, Germany, the previous casino had a 16,000 square foot casino floor featuring 150 slots, 8 table games and two restaurants. It is open from 2pm to 3am daily.
Since 1948, Spielbank Bad Neuenahr has provided guests with a classy way to gamble. A beautiful casino from the outside gives a hint of what to expect on the inside. Slot machines with jackpots, table games and poker are all part of the gambling menu. In addition, parking is available in the casinos self-parking garage or finding a spot near the casino on the street. Stepping in to the casino will cost you nominal fee of €3.50. Dress code requires a smart casual look. Tie and jacket are optional, but will suit the ambience.
If for some reason guests want to step outside of the casino, there is plenty of entertainment in and around the city. The local golf course is considered one of the best around. Horse racing is another attraction visitors consider to be a must see during their stay. For longer stays, the local hotels that Casino Bad Neuenahr has partnered with include a 5-star resort that offers special packages for casino guests.
