The WPT World Championship festival at Wynn Las Vegas is making headlines again by hosting the largest freeroll in poker history, the ClubWPT Gold $5M Invitational Freeroll. This groundbreaking event not only continues the tradition of record-breaking tournaments but also marks the introduction of the World Poker Tour’s latest innovation, ClubWPT Gold.

“In celebration of the launch of ClubWPT Gold, we’re aiming for another first for the poker world with the largest freeroll ever offered,” stated Adam Pliska, CEO and President of the World Poker Tour. This statement underscores the tour’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of the poker industry.

ClubWPT Gold: a new era in online poker

ClubWPT Gold represents a pivotal shift in online poker, operating on a sweepstakes-based platform. This new venture is designed to legally serve most of the U.S., allowing players to engage in poker games using virtual coins with no monetary value. These coins, known as Gold Coins, are pivotal to the platform’s operation, while Sweeps Coins, which players can obtain through various promotional activities, can be redeemed for cash and prizes.

The platform will go live in early 2025, offering a no-purchase-necessary engagement model expected to redefine how poker enthusiasts interact with the game online.

The $5 million freeroll event, scheduled for December 13-15, will coincide with the $10,400 WPT World Championship main event. This strategic scheduling ensures maximum participation and excitement. As part of this spectacular freeroll, 100 lucky players will earn their entry into the WPT World Championship, thereby integrating both events seamlessly.

To participate in this historic freeroll, players must secure a “Golden Passport” through ClubWPT Gold, available through a variety of online promotions and contests starting September 24 until the event begins.

Additional highlights of the WPT World Championship:

The 2024 WPT World Championship is shaping up to be a spectacle of poker prowess with multiple events lined up. The championship itself features three starting flights from December 14 to 16, with the grand finale set to be livestreamed on December 21. Last year’s event attracted 3,835 participants, and expectations are high for another record turnout.

Ryan Beauregard, Executive Director of Poker Operations at Wynn Las Vegas, expressed confidence in the event’s success, saying in a WPT press release: “We have crafted an incredible schedule for this year’s World Championship, featuring more than 60 tournaments and satellites. I’m confident that the loyal fanbase of Wynn Las Vegas and WPT, as well as more than 500 qualifiers and satellite winners, will make the 2024 WPT World Championship another rousing success.”

The festival will also include the $1,100 WPT Ladies Championship and the $1,100 Seniors Championship, each offering significant guaranteed prize pools, further enhancing the allure of this December’s poker festivities at Wynn Las Vegas.
