In a pivotal move for online poker, BetMGM has officially merged its player pools between Michigan and New Jersey poker, creating a more expansive gaming experience with larger prize pools and increased opportunities for players in both states. This landmark step not only brings more games and variety but also introduces an upgraded poker platform that offers new features and a streamlined user interface. With this change, BetMGM Poker aims to elevate the quality and reach of its online poker offerings for players in both markets.

Angus Nisbet, Vice President of Gaming at BetMGM, emphasized the significance of this development, stating, “This is a landmark day for our poker product as we combine player pools in select markets. With the introduction of shared liquidity, we’ve listened to players’ desire for more games and larger prize pools. By showcasing our best-in-class omnichannel experience—spanning property, sports betting and online casino—we’re committed to providing an unparalleled poker experience for our players.”

Celebrating with the BetMGM Poker Online Championships

To mark this milestone, BetMGM will host its largest tournament series yet—the BetMGM Poker Online Championships. Beginning on November 17 and running through December 1, the tournament will feature $2 million in guaranteed prizes, nightly trophy events, and a series leaderboard. This championship series aims to provide players with a variety of poker formats, attracting both new and seasoned participants in search of high-stakes action and significant rewards.

Players from both states can participate in this tournament, taking advantage of larger prize pools created through combined player traffic. The online championships are one of several events BetMGM is organizing to keep its players engaged and excited as it continues to expand its multi-state offerings.

New App Features for an Enhanced Poker Experience

Alongside merging player pools, BetMGM has launched an upgraded poker app across its operating markets. This new version of the app boasts a redesigned lobby, easier navigation, and a faster log-in process, all aimed at creating a more seamless and user-friendly experience. The improvements cater to the demands of an increasingly diverse and competitive online poker audience, ensuring that both casual players and dedicated poker enthusiasts have access to a cutting-edge platform.

Darren Elias, BetMGM Poker Ambassador and record-holding four-time World Poker Tour champion expressed his enthusiasm about these advancements, saying, “Combining player pools will immediately elevate BetMGM Poker with more games and bigger guarantees while allowing BetMGM to send more online qualifiers to live tournaments at MGM Resorts properties across the country. We are focused on the growth of online poker, and I am so excited about the recent app upgrades, the upcoming series, and the evolution of BetMGM Poker.”

Michigan Gaming Control Board’s Approval of Shared Liquidity

This merging of player pools follows the Michigan Gaming Control Board’s (MGCB) recent approval, allowing BetMGM to initiate shared liquidity between New Jersey and Michigan as part of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). According to MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams, “This authorization represents a significant step forward in the development of online gaming within our state boundaries. We are confident that the partnership with BetMGM will enhance the gaming experience for Michigan players and drive growth in the industry.”

BetMGM’s shared liquidity platform offers a variety of poker games, including No Limit Hold’em, Fixed Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha Hi, Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo, Fixed Limit 7-Card Stud Hi, and Fixed Limit 7-Card Stud Hi-Lo. As BetMGM continues to innovate and expand, additional games may be introduced, pending approval from the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
