Caesars Entertainment is set to rebrand its iconic Harveys Lake Tahoe property in Nevada as Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino, marking a $160 million investment aimed at bringing a fresh, modern resort experience to the South Shore. The transformation, which is already undeway, includes a broad range of enhancements designed to align with the scenic sophistication of Lake Tahoe and redefine luxury in the region.
Resort-wide renovations to redefine luxury:
The expansive renovation will span all 1.6 million square feetof the resort and introduce contemporary design elements throughout. Design firm Marnell Companies is spearheading the project, which begins with an overhaul of the hotel lobby and extends across the hotel towers and casino floor. One of the biggest upgrades includes the 88,000-square-foot casino space, which will feature new digital displays, upgraded tables and chairs, refreshed lighting, and carpeting. Slot machines will also be updated, and new additions like a High Limit Room and a dedicated World Series of Poker Room will enhance the gaming experience.
Guests can expect the resort to remain open throughout the transition. The official rebranding to Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe is scheduled for July 1, with further renovations continuing into 2025 and final completion set for mid-2026. “Lake Tahoe is a stunning destination, and we’re elated to bring a new world-class resort worthy of its allure to the lakefront,” said Anthony Carano, President and COO of Caesars Entertainment.
Both of the resort’s hotel towers are undergoing extensive refurbishments. The Remus Tower, previously known as the Mountain Tower, will see all rooms renovated and select suites upgraded with butler service. The Romulus Tower, formerly the Tahoe Tower, is also being refreshed following a major remodel completed in 2020.
The transformation also includes new dining and lounge experiences. A highlight will be Cleo’s Coffee and Cocktails, a stylish space that transitions from a casual daytime café into a sophisticated cocktail lounge by night. Fan-favorite venues such as Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN and WOLF by Vanderpump will remain, further cementing the property’s upscale culinary profile.
“This transformation honors the storied history of Harveys while introducing modern amenities and elevated experiences that will redefine luxury in Lake Tahoe,” said Karie Hall, SVP and General Manager of Harrah’s and Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe, via the company’s press release.
Investment signals confidence in Tahoe market:
This is the second Caesars Republic location to launch, following the 2024 debut of Caesars Republic Scottsdale. Unlike the Arizona property, Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe will offer a full gaming experience, including table games, slots, and a Caesars Race & Sportsbook.
Caesars’ $160 million commitment reflects the company’s broader confidence in the Lake Tahoe market. While gaming revenue on the Las Vegas Strip dipped slightly last year, South Shore casinos reported a gross win of $244 million—an 8% increase over pre-pandemic figures from 2019. The region is also attracting investment from other operators, including Golden Nugget, which is undertaking its own large-scale renovation of a nearby 539-room casino hotel.
Across the street, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, also operated by Caesars, is receiving its own series of enhancements. Renovations to the Summit Suites are underway, and the newly opened Brew Brothers is adding a vibrant craft beer and dining element to the experience. Additional tech upgrades and improvements are also planned to complement the redevelopment at Caesars Republic.
Although Caesars manages the operations of Harveys, the property itself is owned by Vici Properties, the real estate investment trust spun off from Caesars in 2017. These types of projects are often financed through sale-leaseback structures, with REITs like Vici or rival Gaming & Leisure Properties contributing capital in exchange for increased rental income.
With extensive renovations planned across the board and completion expected by mid-2026, Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe is set to usher in a new era of premium hospitality, positioning itself as a premier destination on the lakefront.
