Century Entertainment International Holdings has taken another step toward digital gaming by extending its partnership with Philippines-based World Platinum Technologies Inc. through a new memorandum of understanding focused on mobile gaming applications. The Hong Kong-listed company disclosed the agreement in a filing cited by Asia Gaming Brief, describing plans to develop, operate, and generate revenue from online-gaming-related mobile apps under its existing joint venture structure.

The non-binding MOU was signed after trading hours on January 8, 2026, by Konphil Technology Company Limited, the joint venture company established by the two firms in mid-2025. The agreement outlines an intention to move toward a definitive leasing and operating arrangement that would allow the joint venture to build and commercialize mobile gaming products using WPT’s platform and proprietary systems.

Mobile applications and division of responsibilities

According to the filing, the joint venture aims to create as many as ten different mobile applications linked to online gaming. Development and customization of the apps will fall under Konphil’s responsibilities, along with marketing efforts, player acquisition, and broader business development activities. WPT’s role centers on providing access to its technology and content, while also handling compliance and operational tasks.

These tasks include conducting know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering checks, onboarding players, and supplying customer service, technical support, and operational assistance. WPT will also deliver periodic data and performance reports related to the applications once they are in operation.

Subject to the execution of a definitive agreement, WPT would receive 15% of the net gaming profit generated by the mobile applications. The companies indicated that settlements would take place on a monthly basis. Aside from clauses covering confidentiality and governing law, the MOU does not create binding obligations and remains open to further negotiation.

Century Entertainment explained that the arrangement broadens the scope of cooperation beyond earlier agreements. In its filing, the company said the MOU “provides a framework for the joint venture company to cooperate with WPT in utilizing WPT’s online platform, proprietary content and technical infrastructure for the development, operation and monetization of mobile applications, beyond the scope of the existing arrangements.”

The company added that “the joint venture company is expected to leverage WPT’s experience and operational support while focusing on application development, marketing and player acquisition.” It also stated, “The Board considers that the MOU is consistent with the Group’s business strategy of expanding its presence in the digital gaming and technology-driven entertainment sector and complements the existing joint venture and licensing arrangements with WPT.”

Building on a 2025 joint venture foundation

The mobile gaming initiative builds on a partnership first announced in July 2025, when Century Entertainment and WPT agreed to pursue gaming system platforms and content opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region. That earlier deal led to the formation of Konphil Technology Company Limited, with Century Entertainment holding a 51% stake and WPT owning 49%.

Under the original framework, Century Entertainment committed to supporting research and development, platform maintenance, financial management, and legal compliance. In exchange, its Philippine partner contributed gaming system platforms, software, source code, content, and related intellectual property.

At the time, Century Entertainment described the Philippines as a growing online gaming market and acknowledged that the MOU governing the joint venture was not legally binding. The company noted that no assurance could be given that the plans would proceed as initially outlined.

Strategic shift after changes to legacy operations

Century Entertainment’s focus on online and mobile gaming follows significant changes to its traditional casino-related activities. In 2025, the company terminated an agreement to operate gaming tables at the Dara Sakor casino in Cambodia, an arrangement closely associated with former chairman and chief executive Ng Man Sun. Ng stepped down from his roles in late May 2025.

The company has since indicated it may pursue gaming table operations in Vietnam, having signed a non-binding letter of intent for such activities late last year. Historically, Century Entertainment operated under the name Amax International Holdings and held a prominent position in Macau’s junket sector. It also previously owned a substantial stake in the Greek Mythology casino, which was written off as an asset in 2019 following regulatory closure.

Through the expanded cooperation with WPT, Century Entertainment continues to reposition itself toward technology-driven gaming activities. The proposed mobile applications represent the latest effort to develop new revenue streams while relying on an established joint venture platform and an experienced regional partner.
