Pennsylvania’s regulated gambling market produced $590.6 million in total revenue during January, reflecting year-on-year growth driven largely by online casino activity and stronger sports betting returns. State authorities also reported approximately $250 million in tax revenue from gaming operations during the month.

Casinos across the state recorded gains across several segments, with digital gaming continuing to expand its share of total revenue. Land-based venues maintained stable performance, while sports wagering revenue rose despite a lower betting handle compared with the same month a year earlier.

Casino Results and Land-Based Gaming Trends

Among individual operators, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course posted the highest January total, generating roughly $111.4 million to $111.5 million in revenue. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with $105.8 million, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia reported $57.2 million.

Slot machine revenue statewide reached $189.1 million, representing a modest year-on-year increase. The number of operational slot machines declined slightly compared with January 2025, with 24,161 machines active compared with 24,388 the previous year.

Parx Casino recorded the largest slot revenue figure at $29.2 million, although this marked a decline from the previous year. Wind Creek Bethlehem produced $21.1 million from slots, while Rivers Casino Pittsburgh generated $20.8 million, reflecting a small increase.

Retail table games revenue amounted to $75.8 million during January, which exceeded the prior year’s $73.7 million total. This growth contributed to overall stability in land-based casino performance despite only modest increases in certain segments.

Online Gaming and Sports Betting Momentum

As published by Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, internet casino gaming continued to deliver significant gains. Operators reported $249.3 million in igaming revenue for January, representing a notable increase compared with the same month in 2025. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led this segment with $96.2 million in online gaming revenue, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort with $67.7 million. Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $40.1 million from its online operations.

Sports betting also showed improved revenue performance. Taxable sports wagering revenue reached $71.4 million from a total handle of $782.4 million. Although the handle fell compared with January 2025, revenue increased considerably over the previous year’s figure.

Valley Forge Casino Resort led sports betting revenue with $27.6 million on a handle of $276.3 million. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows produced $22.7 million from $235.8 million in wagers, while Hollywood Casino York reported $5.6 million in revenue from a $56.3 million handle.

The stronger revenue outcome despite a reduced betting handle reflected improved hold performance during the month. This dynamic contributed to the overall increase in total gaming revenue across Pennsylvania.

January’s results also highlighted the continued importance of diversified gaming streams within the state. Online casino activity delivered the largest share of growth, while retail casino gaming and sports wagering maintained steady contributions to overall revenue totals.
