DraftKings has expanded its new horse racing product into six more states ahead of the Kentucky Derby, bringing DraftKings Racing to a total of nine jurisdictions as the company continues building a broader unified gambling platform.
The newly added states are Florida, Louisiana, Montana, New Hampshire, Ohio and Oregon. The expansion follows the feature’s earlier launch in Delaware, New Mexico and Rhode Island.
DraftKings Racing is available inside the DraftKings Sportsbook app and allows customers to place horse racing wagers through a shared wallet and unified account. The product is part of the company’s wider plan for a combined “DraftKings Sports & Casino” experience, intended to bring Sportsbook, Predictions, Casino and Lottery into a single platform where allowed by local regulation.
The rollout comes just before the 152nd Kentucky Derby, one of the biggest annual betting events in U.S. horse racing.
Horse Racing Moves Into the Sportsbook App
DraftKings first entered the horse racing betting space through DK Horse, a standalone app launched in 2023. That product eventually became available in 26 states.
The company announced on March 31 that DraftKings Racing would gradually replace DK Horse in each jurisdiction as part of its Super App strategy. Delaware, New Mexico and Rhode Island were the first states to receive the integrated product, with the latest six-state expansion arriving as Kentucky Derby betting activity increases.
DK Horse will remain available in states where it currently operates until DraftKings Racing is introduced in each market. The older app will then be phased out on a state-by-state basis.
“DraftKings is committed to delivering the best fan experience across sports, and we’re proud to continue elevating that experience for horse racing with DraftKings Racing,” said Johnny Avello, Director of Race and Sports Operations at DraftKings, in a press release.
“DraftKings Racing is designed for speed and simplicity, offering a seamless and powerful way to engage with the sport’s biggest moments. By integrating horse racing directly into the DraftKings Sportsbook app, customers can wager across sports in one place with a shared wallet — creating a more connected and streamlined experience.”
The product is structured as a pari-mutuel betting platform, matching the traditional wagering model used at racetracks and off-track betting locations.
Kentucky Derby Promotion Added
To coincide with the Kentucky Derby, DraftKings is reportedly offering a $1 million “King of the Track” promotion across both DraftKings Racing and DK Horse.
Customers can opt in and place a qualifying bet on the winning horse. Those who select the winner will receive a share of the $1 million cash prize pool. Additional reporting indicated that the promotion applies to qualifying straight bets of $5 or more placed through either DraftKings Racing or DK Horse.
The timing gives DraftKings a chance to introduce more sportsbook users to horse racing during the sport’s highest-profile weekend. The Derby traditionally attracts casual and regular bettors, and the integrated product removes the need for users in supported states to move to a separate horse racing app.
DraftKings said Racing will continue expanding throughout 2026. Availability will depend on individual state rules, as horse racing operates under a separate regulatory framework from online sports betting.
That means customers may see different access rules depending on where they are located. In some jurisdictions, horse racing betting may be available even where online sports betting is not offered under the same conditions.
The new product includes a unified account, shared wallet, promotional tools and an updated interface. DraftKings said the goal is to make racing easier to access while keeping it connected to the company’s broader sports wagering environment.
The company also highlighted responsible gaming resources tied to its platform. These include My Stat Sheet, which lets customers review their personal gaming activity, and My Budget Builder, a guided tool for setting limits and reminders.
