Members of Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians revealed the massive Temecula casino expansion plan, whose worth is $285 million. The two-year plan is expected to create around 3,000 construction jobs in the area and then provide approximately 560 long-term positions.
The expansion includes a 568-room hotel wing, a fitness centre, a two-story spa, two restaurants as well as a 67,000 square feet event space. If everything goes as planned, the project should be completed by the end of 2017.
Mark Macarro, tribal chairman, said that the meeting was celebrating the “beginning of the next chapter of Pechanga Resort & Casino.” He pointed out that the new project would continue the tribe’s entrepreneurial spirit for generations. “We are grateful and proud to be in a position to strengthen tourism in the Temecula Valley and Southern California,” Macarro added.
The chairman explained that the tribe wanted to offer a resort that would be able to meet “the growing needs” of people that are looking for recreation, not just gambling. Maccaro also revealed that the demand for hotel rooms has been constantly growing and that the establishment recently recorded 365 straight days of full occupancy.
Younger people that enjoy gambling are seen as one of the top reasons for the impressive progress the casino has been witnessing these past months. Additionally, Temecula has been establishing itself as a popular tourist destination for music and wine lovers too.
Tutor Perini Corp is going to be the expansion’s builder, whereas the design team is going to be led by Delawie architects of San Diego. When the project is finished the resort should offer 200,000 square casino floor, 1,090 hotel rooms, 13 restaurants, 13 pools and 4,560 employees.
The president of the Pechanga Development Corporation, Patrick Murphy, said that they were all completely committed to making Pechanga Resort & Casino “a world-class resort destination.”
