Yesterday, the World Series of Poker began the 47th running of the annual tournament series, with poker players heading to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to take part in several tournament events over the next few weeks. The series will offer 69 events running from June to July, with the Main Event breaking once again once the final table is reached and coming back for the November Nine this fall.
For the first day of the WSOP, players could get started by competing in cash games at the Pavilion Room or take part in single table satellites to qualify for certain events on the schedule. Daily Deepstack tournaments also began with the multi-table tournaments running for just one day in a similar format to the standard WSOP events.
There were no bracelet events taking place with the first to take place today, the $565 Casino Employees No Limit Hold’em tournament. Mega Satellites also begin today and will continue until the 7th of July. This will provide players with a way to win a $1,500 tournament entry as well as $100 for each ten players who register for the satellite. The Mega satellites will have a buy-in of $185 and will be a turbo format, seeing blind levels increase in ten minute time frames.
There are several events on the World Series of Poker schedule that fans and players will be paying close attention to, including the Colossus II. This event will start on Thursday with the first two flights, with six starting flights in all. The event will offer first place with a minimum of $1 million in prize money with at least $7 million up for grabs in total.
The schedule is full of unique and returning events, with the Rio all abuzz now as players travel in from around the world to take part in the most anticipated tournament series of the year.
