American casino operator Caesars Entertainment Corporation has reportedly revealed that it will be adding a sportsbook to the previously-announced 100,000 sq ft expansion of its Horseshoe Southern Indiana facility.

Coming ashore:

According to a Wednesday report from The Courier-Journal newspaper, the Las Vegas-headquartered firm marked the 20th birthday of its Horseshoe Southern Indiana facility in November some seven months after detailing that it would be spending approximately $85 million to move the Harrison County venue’s casino onto dry land.

Gaming galore:

The newspaper reported that Horseshoe Southern Indiana, which is located along the banks of the Ohio River approximately 14 miles from downtown Louisville, Kentucky, now hopes to open the new one-story extension early next year complete with a sportsbetting service for anyone over the age of 21 as well as a casino featuring a large selection of slots, gaming tables and poker attractions.

Name change:

The Courier-Journal reported that the land-based expansion for the four-story southern Indiana riverboat casino is to involve the construction of separate non-smoking, high-limit and private gaming lounges as well as a sports bar. All of this is purportedly due to be complemented by updated entertainment, retail and dining spaces before the entire development is rebranded as Caesars Southern Indiana.

Contemporary competition:

The newspaper reported that the coming sportsbetting service has been made possible after last week’s signing by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb of a sweeping piece of casino legislation and should help the venue once known as Caesars Indiana to compete with the nearby Derby City Gaming facility recently opened by Churchill Downs Incorporated.

Brad Seigel, General Manager and Senior Vice-President for Horseshoe Southern Indiana, purportedly told The Courier-Journal that the revamp of his venue is set to present Caesars Entertainment Corporation customers with an ‘entirely new experience’ and assist the firm in luring back area patrons that may have begun travelling into Louisville to enjoy the new Derby City Gaming facility.

“Enhancements to the guest experience will include many new sights and sounds but what will be familiar to them is our friendly team members [who are] always ready to make their visit memorable.”
