In Cyprus and casino operator Melco International Development Limited has reportedly expanded its chain of Cyprus Casinos (C2) ‘satellite’ venues by debuting a small facility in the southern resort city of Ayia Napa.

Quadruple casinos:

According to a Monday report from the online news domain at In-Cyprus.com, the premiere of the 3,950 sq ft C2 Ayia Napa comes a little over a year after the Hong Kong-listed firm opened its ‘temporary’ C2 Limassol property with its casino portfolio for the island nation also encompassing newer compatriot enterprises in the communities of Larnaca and Nicosia.

Diminutive destination:

In-Cyprus.com reported that the new C2 Ayia Napa is to employ around 40 people and sits on a 3.4-acre plot of land near to the center of the seaside city offering a selection of some 50 slots alongside on-site parking and a bar.

Coming compatriot:

Melco International Development Limited is the parent of Asian casino giant Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited and won the right in 2017 to bring casino gambling to Cyprus via a 30-year license. It subsequently intends to spend approximately $548 million in order to open its 500-room City of Dreams Mediterranean venue in the small village of Tserkezoi by the end of 2021.

Superlative site:

The firm consequently expended about $14 million to open its ‘temporary’ C2 Limassol venue as a way to drum up interest in its much larger City of Dreams Mediterranean development while the exclusive license moreover gave it permission to open smaller ‘satellite’ gambling facilities in the communities of Nicosia, Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Paphos. The operator’s trio of Cypriot casinos has so far managed to chalk up in excess of 880,000 visits while Craig Ballantyne, C2 Property President for Melco International Development Limited, reportedly described Ayia Napa as the ideal location for such a venture.

Ballantyne reportedly told In-Cyprus.com…

“We are delighted to be launching our third satellite casino and further expanding our C2 portfolio. We are confident that C2 Ayia Napa will help to enhance the city’s tourist product and significantly contribute to the sustainable growth of the local and island’s economy. At the same time, the casino will offer an exceptional entertainment experience for both local and foreign guests.”
