In southern Florida and Casino Miami has inked a deal with the American arm of British sportsbetting giant William Hill that could soon see it begin offering punters the chance to place a range of parimutuel simulcast wagers on sports including horseracing.
The Dade County facility used an official Thursday press release published by European Gaming Media and Events to proclaim that the alliance with William Hill US is to see it open ‘a state-of-the-art viewing facility’ adjacent to its poker room that will house a 30-foot video wall as well as ten 50-inch televisions.
Pending permission:
Casino Miami declared that this coming 2,300 sq ft sportsbook is to also offer a range of high-top tables complete with ‘plush chairs’ alongside some 30 ‘race carrells’ and will be able to provide sportsbetting aficionados, pending regulatory approval, with the chance to watch and wager on major contests being broadcast from a variety of American thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing tracks.
First-mover advantage:
The man behind Casino Miami, Phillip Ruffin, used the press release to state that the agreement with William Hill US additionally encompasses jai alai contests and will allow the facility to get an early advantage on the competition should Florida ever follow the example of several other American states by fully legalizing sportsbetting.
Read a statement from Ruffin…
“William Hill has unparalleled expertise and a rich history in racing. The company has led the industry for decades and together we will bring state-of-the-art technology and innovation to Casino Miami. This new race book will provide us with an incredible amenity for guests and will place us at the forefront of the forthcoming Florida sportsbetting business.”
Approaching debut:
For its part, William Hill US recently inked a partnership deal with the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the bookmaker’s Chief Executive Officer, Joe Asher, explaining that he anticipates opening the new simulcast sportsbook inside Casino Miami before the end of the year.
