In central Pennsylvania and a subsidiary of Penn National Gaming Incorporated has reportedly been granted a license to open a satellite casino featuring some 500 slots and around 24 gaming tables within the York Galleria Mall.

According to Wednesday reports from local television broadcasters WPMT-TV and WFMZ-TV, the unanimous decision from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board means that Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association LLC could premiere the new Hollywood Casino York facility as soon as December of next year to create as many as 200 full-time jobs.

Lucrative license:

WPMT-TV reported that the award comes after Penn National Gaming Incorporated paid $50.1 million in order to win a January of 2018 auction so as to be given the right to open a so-called ‘Category 4’ casino within a 15-mile radius of the city of York. The broadcaster explained that the Wyomissing-based firm later filed an official license application for the York Galleria Mall site, which was once home to a franchise of Sears Roebuck and Company, before sailing through a subsequent public hearing.

Expansion prospects:

For its part, WFMZ-TV reported that Hollywood Casino York is moreover due to feature a sportsbook as well as a bar, coffee shop and restaurant while its license gives it the ability to increase the size of its gaming floor to encompass as many as 750 slots and 40 gaming tables.

Penn reportedly detailed that fitting out its Hollywood Casino York property could create up to 260 temporary construction jobs with the eventual finished facility set to contribute as much as $1 million a year in tax revenues to Springettsbury Township.
