According to GamblingInvest.com, Amaya Inc is preparing to launch a dedicated sports betting site featuring the brand BetStars. The publication claims having exclusive knowledge that The Rational Group, an Amaya’s subsidiary, has acquired the BetStars.com domain as well as all other domains related to the brand late last month.
BetStars.com used to belong to WilsonBet, a UK licensed operator that shut down the domain on 30th of June in order to focus on telephone bookmaking operations. Reportedly, BetStars.com was bought for an undisclosed amount by the Rational Group late October. However, there were reports that Rational Holdings paid a sum of $10,000 for the domain.
The Group went on acquiring the BetStars brand by buying BetStars.co.uk, Betstars.eu and BetStars.de as well. GamblingInvest reveals that the latter two cost Rational Holdings a total of $4,172; the company paid $2,177 for the .eu domain and $1,995 for the .de domain.
Amaya Inc never hid its intention to expand its sports betting offer throughout Europe. Earlier this year visitors witnessed the launch of PokerStars UK betting platform; Rational Group CEO Rafi Ashkenazi stated that expanding PokerStars’ betting business internationally was one of the company’s priorities.
Nevertheless, the acquisition of the BetStars brand made the publication believe that Amaya will soon launch a brand new dedicated sports betting portal.
