Vic Salerno, a member of the American Gaming Association Hall of Fame and owner of the new company, US Fantasy, has applied for a license to provide off-track, pari-mutuel sports system operations. The application has been sent to the Nevada Gaming Commission and if approved, would be the first time an operator could provide full Fantasy Sports contests via casinos in the state.
Salerno and his companies are no strangers to the gaming world in the state. Having been licensed previously over 100 times combined, Salerno and his companies are leading providers of sports wagering and sportsbook operations via American Wagering, Inc as well as subsidiaries.
If approved, the contests would be provided as an intra-state skill game that uses pari-mutuel systems for operation. The USF system would allow players to quickly assemble a fantasy team based on their strategy. The USF format is reportedly different from the Daily Fantasy Sports contests offered by DraftKings and FanDuel, by being designed for regulatory oversight. US Fantasy provides a solution that avoids the issues that currently surround DFS.
Several states, including Pennsylvania, New York and California, are looking for a fantasy sports solution that will offer regulated consumer protections. With US Fantasy, provides a turnkey solution that will work with the regulatory agencies of each state as well as racetracks, casinos, lotteries, etc. The solution can integrate seamlessly into jurisdictions of the state to provide access to fantasy contests.
Entries into the contests will be played via traditional terminals that are located in the land based gaming facilities. Online as well as mobile game play is available. Protections have been put in place for consumers who use mobile or access sites online, including geo-location software, controls against money laundering, age verification and more.
