Bloomberry Resorts Corporation is preparing to expand deeper into the digital gaming sector with a full-scale launch of its newest electronic gaming platform targeted for late May or early June 2025. The move comes as part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its mass market presence and recapture revenue lost following the decline of Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs).

Digital growth to complement land-based operations:

Chairman and CEO Enrique Razon Jr. confirmed the timeline during Bloomberry’s recent annual stockholders’ meeting, noting that the platform is currently undergoing final testing. “We are on track in the system. Our online business now is undergoing extensive testing. It is running now and we are on track for a full launch around the end of May, early June,” he said.

The upcoming launch introduces a new mainstream brand that will complement Solaire Online, Bloomberry’s existing digital offering introduced in 2021. This new product is designed to directly compete with major players like BingoPlus, operated by DigiPlus Interactive Corp.

According to the Philippine Star, Razon emphasized the significance of this strategic expansion, stating, “Launching in the second quarter of 2025, this new mainstream brand will complement Solaire Online and is anticipated to bring our brand of online gaming entertainment to Filipinos nationwide.”

Bloomberry sees the online sector not only as a source of growth but as a buffer against recent financial challenges. “Our strategy of aggressively pursuing our online business is how we intend to recover whatever lost revenue there was,” Razon added.

While pushing forward with its digital plans, Bloomberry is also continuing to scale up its newest land-based property, Solaire Resort North, which opened in May 2024. Although the resort is not yet profitable, Razon noted that each month has seen improved performance.

“Every month is improving and we cannot say exactly when it will return to profitability. But it’s getting closer and closer, and hopefully, as soon as possible we’ll be in profitability, similar to how it was here in Solaire Entertainment City in 2013,” he said.

As stated in the company’s annual report (pdf), Solaire North, built at a cost of $1 billion, has seen steady increases in both foot traffic and gaming revenue. These gains are helping offset the 73% drop in Bloomberry’s overall net income in 2024, which fell to PHP2.6 billion. The decrease was primarily driven by increased depreciation and interest from recent capital investments.

However, gross gaming revenue still climbed 6% year-on-year, reaching PHP61.7 billion, thanks in part to Solaire North’s contributions.

Positioning for long-term leadership:

With a strong portfolio that spans Solaire Entertainment CitySolaire Resort North, and Jeju Sun Hotel & Casino, Bloomberry aims to lead both physical and digital gaming markets. “With our best-in-class integrated resort products and expanded exposure to online gaming, we have an unrivaled and highly diverse portfolio of revenue sources that will solidify our position as the top gaming firm in the Philippines and the region,” said Razon.

The company remains optimistic about the Philippine economic outlook. Razon cited forecasts of 6% to 8% GDP growth through 2028 and highlighted government efforts to stimulate tourism, including a tax refund program for non-resident tourists.

Looking ahead, Bloomberry has identified three core priorities: reinvigorating growth at Solaire Entertainment City, achieving profitability at Solaire North, and establishing a firm foothold in the domestic online gaming market. These initiatives, Razon believes, will secure Bloomberry’s leadership in the evolving gaming industry.
