Hann Casino Resort in Clark, Philippines, will unveil a major extension to its gaming complex on Friday, introducing a new area known as The Canyon. The addition marks a significant increase in available gaming space and reflects broader plans to grow the resort in response to rising demand in Central Luzon’s tourism and leisure market.
Large New Casino Area to Welcome Guests
The Canyon serves as a multi-level expansion built to broaden the venue’s gaming capacity and introduce new entertainment concepts. Hann previously outlined that the project would raise its slot count by about 50% and its mass gaming tables by around 40%. The operator currently lists 1,000 slot machines and 200 tables, and the new space brings in more than 500 additional slots and over 60 new tables across both floors of the expansion.
The Canyon’s first level will open on Friday and can seat up to 446 guests. This area includes 584 slot machines and 34 table games. The second floor is scheduled for completion in 2026, where premium gaming and dining areas will be located.
The design draws heavily from natural elements, with the resort describing it as an immersive setting shaped by rock formations, greenery, and an atrium-style layout. According to Inside Asian Gaming, Dennis Andreaci, Senior Vice President of Casino Operations, explained earlier this year that the goal was to reshape the property’s main gaming environment. “The idea was to create a larger, more dynamic main gaming floor,” he said. He noted that the expanded floor “is a spacious, thoughtfully designed area featuring new concepts and a fresh aesthetic,” adding that the team “continuously push the boundaries of creativity to offer more for our guests.”
Andreaci also described the conditions that led to the development, pointing out that the existing casino often reaches full capacity during peak periods. “When you look around the casino during peak periods, weekends and holidays you can see that the gaming floor is very busy and the market is growing,” he said. He added that the increased space would allow the resort “to add in and experiment on additional games and test new games that are not yet here in the Philippines.”
Dining Concepts and Future Additions
Alongside the gaming upgrade, the first phase brings new dining choices. The Canyon Café and Winery will feature seating for 52 guests, while Three Woks will offer Korean, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine with room for 148 diners. In the main resort expansion plan, Hann also outlined three additional food and beverage venues: The Pearl, an Asian fine dining concept; Three Woks, which also appears in the updated casino expansion; and The Daily Grounds, a coffee and wine venue.
The broader project spans 22,113 square meters and includes dedicated spaces for non-gaming amenities. A specialty restaurant will be placed on the upper-level VIP gaming area, while the ground floor will host another casual restaurant featuring East Asian dishes. A central café and tea venue will serve as a social hub, transforming into a cocktail and wine lounge during the evening.
Hann Philippines expects to complete the first phase of The Canyon expansion by the fourth quarter of 2025, with full completion targeted for early 2026. The resort’s initial upgrade from Widus Hotel and Casino to Hann Resorts occurred in 2021, and the complex currently offers 865 hotel rooms under the Swissôtel, Marriott, and Widus brands.
To support the construction, the company secured a PHP 6-billion omnibus loan from Asia United Bank Corporation and Union Bank of the Philippines. Executives from both banks expressed confidence in Hann’s long-term development plans. “Hann Philippines has consistently demonstrated its commitment to innovation and growth,” said Asia United Bank’s Executive Vice President Ernesto Uy. Union Bank’s Executive Vice President Antonino A.S. Fajardo added that the group “has established itself as a leader in the industry and is committed to differentiated products and superb customer experience.”
Hann Philippines Chairman and CEO Dae Sik Han remarked on the backing received from financial partners, saying, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our bank partners for their unwavering trust and support for Hann Philippines.”
The company is also pursuing parallel development in New Clark City, where the Hann Reserve project is underway. The first attraction there, a golf course designed by Nick Faldo, is expected to open by February next year.
