Expected to open in early 2017, the Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady has just announced the interviewing process for dealer positions has now begun with a dealer school to begin this October. The interviewing process will take place for dealer positions before the first session of classes takes place within the casino’s Dealer School. Applicants for dealer positions have been invited to interview with officials of the casino over the next few weeks until the Dealer School launches.

Prior dealer experience is not required and individuals have to be 21 years of age or older to be considered for positions. Qualified applicants will be contacted by officials for a position within the dealer school. The school has no cost and the Rivers Casino will be providing payment for gaming license fees for all members of the team hired for the property.

Classes will begin within the dealer school on the 17th of October with the Poker option beginning on the 24th of October. The classes will take place across the street from the venue which is currently under construction. Classes will take place for ten to twelve weeks based on the concentration of study, with morning, evening and weekend classes available.

Mary Cheeks is the General Manager for the casino who stated that whether it is blackjack, craps, poker or other table games that will be available at the casino, being a great dealer takes a lot of practice in addition to having a great personality. The fun and fast-paced environment allows the individual to build a career in the gaming industry. Cheeks is encouraging anyone who is interested in a dealer position to apply immediately via the casino website so their information can be reviewed before the dealer school begins.

The $330 million project will include 50,000 square feet of gaming space that will include 66 gaming tables, 15 poker table and 1,157 slot games. A hotel will be located on-site with 163 guest rooms as well as a banquet facility with 10,000 square feet of space. Hiring will be done in stages for all positions within the venue as the facility leads up to opening early next year.
