International Game Technology PLC (IGT) has secured a seven-year contract extension with the Thuringian State Lottery (LOTTO Thüringen) in Germany, reinforcing their long-standing relationship. Under this agreement, IGT will deploy its Aurora retail central system technology along with comprehensive software upgrades. The new system is expected to be operational by March 2026.
Aurora, a key component of IGT’s OMNIA omnichannel solution, is designed to optimize lottery operations by offering advanced transaction processing, game management, and back-office functionalities. The platform will also introduce user-friendly applications, reporting tools, and analytics to support LOTTO Thüringen’s modernization efforts.
A Decades-Long Partnership
Jochen Staschewski, CEO of LOTTO Thüringen, emphasized the significance of the upgrade, stating, “LOTTO Thüringen has relied on IGT’s versatile and strong-performing central system technology throughout the course of our decades-long relationship. Upgrading our central retail system to IGT’s advanced platform and back-end software will enable us to streamline our business processes and continue operating with the highest levels of efficiency.”
The extended contract ensures LOTTO Thüringen will continue benefiting from IGT’s cutting-edge technology, providing a secure and efficient framework for their operations. Jay Gendron, IGT Chief Operating Officer for Global Lottery, highlighted the advantages of the agreement in a company press release, noting, “IGT’s retail central system incorporates a suite of flexible solutions designed to help manage, transform and further grow LOTTO Thüringen’s business. With this long-term contract extension, LOTTO Thüringen is well-positioned to continue benefiting from IGT’s secure, responsible and modernized technology and software. Leveraging these best-in-class solutions will aid in the Lottery’s goals of supporting good causes throughout the state.”
Powering The World’s Top Lotteries
IGT continues to establish itself as a leading provider in the global lottery industry, serving 26 of the 46 U.S. state lotteries and maintaining partnerships with eight of the world’s ten largest lotteries. The company’s expertise in delivering scalable and responsible gaming solutions has solidified its presence in over 100 jurisdictions worldwide.
As part of its ongoing growth strategy, IGT recently entered into a ten-year agreement with Luxembourg’s national lottery, Loterie Nationale, to implement similar technological upgrades, further underscoring its commitment to modernizing lottery operations globally. Moreover, in the first half of 2024 the supplier secured a five-year contract with Atlantic Lottery in Canada.
The renewed partnership with LOTTO Thüringen aligns with IGT’s broader objective of enhancing lottery systems with state-of-the-art technology, ensuring efficient operations and increased profitability. The Aurora system’s deployment will equip LOTTO Thüringen with the necessary tools to adapt to evolving industry demands while maintaining high standards of security and operational effectiveness.
