Lotte Tour Development’s Jeju Dream Tower has posted a remarkable surge in its casino performance for January 2025, marking a significant leap in both monthly and year-on-year revenue figures. The integrated resort, located on the scenic Jeju Island in South Korea, generated KRW 29.4 billion (approximately USD 20.1 million) in casino revenue, reflecting a 23.2% increase compared to the same month last year and a robust 24.8% rise over December 2024’s performance.
Casino revenue breakdown: strong growth in table games:
According to Inside Asian Gaming, the bulk of this growth stemmed from table games, which earned KRW 28.1 billion (USD 19.2 million), a notable 27.2% increase from the previous month. This highlights the casino’s growing appeal to players, with table games continuing to be the main revenue driver. In contrast, the machine gaming segment saw a slight downturn, generating KRW 1.28 billion (USD 876,325), down 11.5% from December. Despite this, machine gaming revenue was still up by 13% compared to the previous year,
The January casino revenue follows a stellar performance in 2024, where Jeju Dream Tower experienced a 93.3% year-on-year boost, bringing its total casino revenue for the year to KRW 276.5 billion (USD 188 million). While casino revenue reached new heights, the hotel division faced some challenges. Hotel revenue in January grew slightly by 7.5% compared to the previous year, reaching KRW 5.53 billion (USD 3.79 million). However, it saw a modest 0.4% increase over December’s revenue.
This positive trend in casino revenue signals that the resort’s recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic remains strong. Jeju Dream Tower, which officially opened in 2021, has undergone significant expansion since its casino operations were relocated from the smaller Lotte Hotel Jeju. The resort’s casino now spans more than 5,000 square meters and boasts a wide array of gaming options, including 141 gaming tables, 190 slot machines, and 71 electronic table games.
January’s performance and hotel challenges:
While casino revenues saw impressive growth, Jeju Dream Tower’s hotel division faced some headwinds. Hotel revenue for the month was KRW 5.53 billion, representing a 7.5% year-on-year increase. However, it was only a modest 0.4% gain over the previous month, indicating that the hotel sector’s recovery is still gradual. In 2024, the hotel segment reported a drop of 7.8%, generating KRW 84.5 billion (USD 57.4 million) as compared to the prior year.
Despite challenges in hotel revenue, the casino operations continue to be the standout performer. The ongoing success in this segment is vital for Lotte Tour’s overall business, especially given the integration of both gaming and hospitality offerings within the Jeju Dream Tower complex. In addition to its extensive gaming options, the tower features a variety of high-end amenities, such as 14 restaurants and bars, an outdoor pool deck, and a sky deck with a lounge offering panoramic views of Jeju Island.
