Leading casino game makers Playtech yesterday announced the opening of a new live dealer studio based in Bucharest, the Capital of Romania. The new studio comes a few months after Playtech was awarded several B2B licenses in the country, including licenses to operate live dealer studios and online gambling, which officially started a planned liberalization of the online gambling market in Romania and Playtech’s expansion over it.
Commenting on the launch, Mor Weizer, Playtech CEO, said that the new live dealer studio would help fortify Playtech’s reputation of being a top-notch supplier of live dealer games and it is only one of a number of game additions and expansions the company has planned for 2017.
According to official press releases, the studio makes use of HD cameras and streaming equipment and Playtech’s next generation live platform that allows for smooth gameplay across both mobile and desktop platforms. The studio will offer a number of live games, including live Roulette, Casino Hold’Em and Live Blackjack, all of which will be hosted by dealers fluent in Romanian.
However, while Playtech may have gotten an early start, they are not the only ones with eyes on the Romanian online market. Only four months ago Evolution Gaming announced that they will be launching the first live dealer studio in Romania in cooperation with iSoftBet, which Playtech will have to seriously compete with for Romanian players. But perhaps having the best in-class HTML5 Live Roulette will help the company draw in gamblers.
Coinciding with the launch of the studio, Playtech also announced that Ron Hoffman, who has been with the company for over a decade and held the rank of CFO, is now to move to Playtech’s financial division to become its CEO, while Head of Investor Relations, Andrew Smith, will take over his position and seat on Playtech’s board of directors.
