SJM Resorts, S.A. has announced an upcoming salary increase for its employees, set to take effect on April 1, 2025. The pay raise will apply to nearly 99 percent of the company’s workforce, according to a company statement cited by Macau Business.
Under the new structure, employees with a monthly salary of MOP16,000 (approximately US$1,993) or less will see an increase of MOP600. Those earning above this threshold will receive a salary increment of 2.5 percent.
SJM Resorts’ Managing Director, Daisy Ho, highlighted the company’s steady progress throughout 2024 and expressed gratitude for the dedication of its employees. “SJM progressed steadily throughout 2024. We deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of our team members and are pleased to announce a salary increase for all eligible employees,” Ho stated.
Continued commitment to growth and economic diversification
Daisy Ho emphasized that the company remains committed to working closely with employees to achieve high-quality growth. “As we step into the new year, SJM will continue working hand in hand with our team to pursue high-quality development, achieve new milestones across various domains, support Macau’s moderate economic diversification, and create value for the community,” she added, according to The Macau Post Daily.
This salary adjustment follows the company’s announcement in December 2024 regarding a special discretionary bonus equivalent to one month’s salary, which was distributed to eligible employees as a token of appreciation for their efforts.
Part of a broader trend in Macau’s gaming industry
SJM Resorts is among several Macau gaming operators implementing wage adjustments in response to the industry’s evolving landscape. Other major operators, such as Sands China and Galaxy Entertainment Group, have also recently introduced similar pay raises for their employees.
Additionally, Melco Resorts & Entertainment has announced its own salary increases, applicable to full-time non-management staff in Macau and Hong Kong. Melco’s eligible employees earning up to MOP16,000 per month will receive a MOP600 increase, while those earning above that amount will receive a 2.5 percent increase.
SJM Resorts’ strategic positioning
The company continues to focus on strategic initiatives across its properties, which include the iconic Lisboa and Grand Lisboa venues in downtown Macau, along with the Grand Lisboa Palace in the Cotai district. SJM’s investments in these properties align with its broader goals of contributing to Macau’s economic diversification and maintaining a competitive edge in the region’s gaming market.
As the company prepares to implement the pay raises, it remains dedicated to fostering a positive work environment and ensuring that employees are recognized for their contributions to SJM’s ongoing success.
