The guitar-shaped hotel tower at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is approaching completion as construction crews continue work on one of the Strip’s largest resort developments.

Recent aerial footage shows that the 660-foot structure is almost fully covered with its signature blue glass panels, with only a small section of the exterior still awaiting installation. The tower has become a prominent feature of the Las Vegas skyline since construction began following the closure and demolition process of the former Mirage property.

The project is being developed on the site of The Mirage at 3400 South Las Vegas Boulevard. The resort is expected to open in late 2027 following an investment of more than $4 billion.

From Mirage Closure to Guitar-Shaped Landmark

Aerial tracking of the construction progress has documented the transformation of the property from the final days of The Mirage into the future Hard Rock Las Vegas resort.

Drone footage from July 17, 2024, captured The Mirage on the day it closed to make way for the redevelopment. Additional flights in August 2024 showed the former resort still largely standing before demolition and site preparation continued.

By November 2024, aerial images showed much of the property cleared, while footage from April 2025 captured the beginning stages of foundation work for the new guitar-shaped tower.

The structure began rising visibly throughout 2025. Drone footage from July showed the tower gaining height, and by October the building had reached a significant stage of development toward its planned 42-story design.

The completed Guitar Hotel will include approximately 3,600 to 3,700 rooms and suites. The tower will also feature a lighting system designed to create six beams representing guitar strings, extending 20,000 feet into the sky once activated.

Resort Expansion Includes Casino and Entertainment Spaces

Construction has continued beyond the hotel tower, with work progressing across the wider Hard Rock Las Vegas complex.

Aerial footage from February 2026 showed development of the area planned for the casino, which will include approximately 174,000 to 175,000 square feet of gaming space.

The resort is also planned to feature two major entertainment venues. These include Hard Rock Live, which will accommodate 5,000 guests, and the five-story West Theater, which will offer space for 2,000 attendees.

The completed property is expected to include multiple pools, spas, restaurants, lounges, retail areas, and other hospitality facilities.

The former Mirage hotel structure is also undergoing extensive interior renovations, while exterior work continues on existing sections of the property.

The Guitar Hotel itself will stand 42 stories tall and include 675 hotel rooms and suites, according to project details.

The latest construction updates show the tower’s blue-tinted glass exterior largely installed, while crews continue adding remaining panels and completing other exterior elements.

The project has become one of the most visible construction efforts on the Las Vegas Strip. Recent images show the guitar-shaped design clearly from surrounding areas, reflecting the scale of the redevelopment.

As reported by Fox5 Vegas, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is scheduled to open during the latter part of 2027. Once completed, the resort will replace The Mirage site with a new destination centered around the Guitar Hotel design.
