20th Century Fox plans to build a 75 acre theme park and casino in the southeastern Korean municipality of Changwon City. The project is expected to be completed in 2018. It will be built in the 700-acre Ungdong Entertainment Complex and be called Twentieth Century Fox World Korea. An Australian company, Village Roadshow Ltd., will be the park operator.

About half a year ago 20th Century announced plans for a 25 acre theme park in Malaysia to become part of the Genting Highlands (Resort World Genting), Malaysia. That attraction is expected to open sometime in 2016 and is part of the Genting Group’s $2 billion master plan for the huge Malaysian property – the only casino in the country.

The increasingly mobile Chinese middle-class seems to be the main target market for the boom in theme park construction across Asia, with the total Asian middle class growing  swiftly.

It’s still too early to get numbers such as the casino’s square footage, machines, or table counts.
