Australian developer Big Time Gaming‘s (BTG) highly popular Megaways game engine has a new home with 3 Oaks Gaming after the recently established iGaming content distributor became the latest studio to secure the rights to utilize and integrate the iconic mechanic into its own slots portfolio.
Under the new partnership agreement, 3 Oaks Gaming will be able to include Megaways into slots titles that it develops going forward, bolstering the casino content distributor’s ability to expand its reach to operators across the globe, as games using the random reel modifier system have proven to be wildly successful with players.
Big Time Gaming:
The Sydney-headquartered firm launched its Megaways solution in 2016 intent on increasing player engagement in online slots through a “dynamic, fast-paced gaming experience.” Employing a random reel modifier mechanic enables any given spin to generate an “ever-changing number of symbols” across the grid. And by doing so players are able to experience a completely unique game every time with 117,649 possible ways to win.
A proven innovator, BTG’s impact on the iGaming industry has been huge thanks to the introduction of their revolutionary game engine which has been licensed to a large number of competitor studios, such as Microgaming, Relax Gaming, Betzest, Scientific Games and others, since its inception and continues to be extremely popular with operators and players alike.
Earlier this month, Kalamba Games became the latest company to gain access to the Megaways mechanic and incorporate it into its own slots portfolio.
Launched in January 2022, the Isle of Man-based and licensed 3 Oaks Gaming is making great strides in realizing its strategic ambitions to become a leading content distributor within the regulated online casino sector, having recently secured the assets of various global slot developers.
Over the coming months, the firm plans to continue to grow its existing offering of games, and according to a January press release, is also working on securing licenses to operate from key iGaming jurisdictions including Malta, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden and Colombia, in addition to its existing Isle of Man license.

Commenting on the new alliance and the firm’s focus on global growth, Sebastian Damian, Managing Director for 3 Oaks Gaming, said in a recent press release…
“We are very pleased to have partnered with the innovative games developer Big Time Gaming and secured the rights to utilise the hugely successful Megaways™.
“The mechanic’s popularity shows no signs of slowing down and continues to be in demand from players across various jurisdictions. The addition of Megaways™ will propel our offering to a new level and ensure 3 Oaks Gaming becomes an important source of content for operators across regulated markets.”
Swedish gaming company Evolution Gaming announced in April 2021 that it would acquire BTG in an agreement worth approximately $536 million. The acquisition was completed in June last year.
