Thirty-six people were arrested at an illegal casino in the Sainik Farms area of South Delhi, India on Sunday. Police were acting on a tip when they raided the illegal casino and found over twenty people playing on five tables. In addition to arrests, police reportedly seized liquor, playing cards, 11 luxury vehicles and chips totaling Rs 1.36 crore (over US$200,000).
The Times of India reports that proprietors as well as casino attendants were arrested along with casino patrons. However, one proprietor and one partner in the casino have not been arrested yet. The news outlet states they were the main accused. Charges were registered at police station PS Neb Sarai under the Delhi Gambling Act and Delhi Excise Act.
The property will be sealed under provisions and in accordance with steps outlined in the Delhi Gambling Act.
