August 10, 2015—Lawrence Ho, CEO of Melco Crown, stated Studio City’s strategy is dependent on the amount of gaming tables the Macau government will grant. Studio City needs to market to the masses, but it will depend on if the company will get the requested 400 tables. The new resort is set to open October 27. 2015.

CEO Ho stated, “We’re appealing to the government, but naturally we’re extremely concerned…if we get the low end of table allocations and I think it would have a drastic impact on our financial meeting.”

Ho has been talking about a structure shift between family friendly market share and VIPs. The number of gaming tables was decided on to improve the competition, even that of City of Dreams. There is a flexible area of high limit tables, signature club areas and VIP locations. The tables granted determines what can be done for the high stakes areas. Deutsche Bank analysts believe 150 tables would serve the expectations of visitors for the openings in Cotai.
