Maverick Washington LLC plans to close eight casinos across Washington on November 30, placing 850 jobs at risk while its parent company continues restructuring under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The affected properties are Great American Casino in Everett, Chip’s Casino, Macau Casino and Palace Casino in Lakewood, All Star Casino in Silverdale, Casino Caribbean in Yakima, Crazy Moose Casino in Pasco and Coyote Bob’s Casino in Kennewick.
Maverick filed separate Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notices with the Washington Employment Security Department for the properties. The notices leave open the possibility that some locations could remain operating if ownership or management changes during the bankruptcy process.
“Maverick Washington LLC is currently subject to a bankruptcy proceeding and, as part of that proceeding, there could be a potential change of operator and/or owner for the site,” Human Resources Director Christine Wisniewski stated, according to KIRO 7 News (My Northwest). “If the site is transitioned to a new owner/operator, the above-referenced closure may not occur, or alternatively, the closure could be delayed. We will provide updated information to you in the event that occurs.”
The latest filings follow previously announced November 1 closures of Great American Casino and Riverside Casino in Tukwila, affecting another 238 employees.
Tri-Cities Casinos Included in November Closures
Crazy Moose Casino in Pasco employs 137 people, while Coyote Bob’s Roadhouse Casino in Kennewick employs 68.
Crazy Moose operates from a 17,500-square-foot property with 15 table games, a card room and poker. Coyote Bob’s occupies 5,000 square feet and offers 12 table games and a card room. Employees at both properties include workers represented by Teamsters Local No. 839.
Staff members have indicated that the two casinos could reopen under new ownership, although no new licence applications were pending for either property when the Washington State Gambling Commission was asked about their status.
Maverick leases both locations after selling them in 2022 as part of a $110.3 million transaction with Blue Owl Capital. The company stopped paying rent to Blue Owl in April 2025 and owed $5.9 million when it later filed for bankruptcy protection.
Bankruptcy Has Already Reshaped Maverick’s Washington Portfolio
Maverick, also known through parent company RunItOneTime LLC, filed for Chapter 11 protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on July 14, 2025.
The filing listed between $100 million and $500 million in both assets and liabilities and between 25,000 and 50,000 creditors.
Court documents attributed the financial problems to substantial debt and “significant competition from tribal casinos in their key Washington market, operational misalignments, and industry headwinds more generally.”
The company had expanded through acquisitions before its bankruptcy, including the $80.5 million purchase of Evergreen Gaming Corporation in 2022.
Several Washington properties have since closed or changed hands. Norwest Gaming Group took over Crazy Moose Casino in Mountlake Terrace and Silver Dollar locations in Mill Creek and SeaTac through the bankruptcy process.
Maverick also disclosed three rounds of layoffs during the summer involving 188 positions in SeaTac, Bothell and Mountlake Terrace.
The company previously linked some of its difficulties in Washington to competition and regulatory restrictions.
“This decision follows the Washington Gaming Commissioners’ choice to shut down the centralized surveillance petition, which was intended to support Washington Cardrooms,” Maverick Gaming stated on its website. “In the decision considerations, the gaming board compared Washington cardroom casinos (15 tables) to mega casinos that attract higher volumes of traffic, impacting our operations. The lack of centralized and advanced surveillance technology, in contrast to what is available in larger establishments, has further hindered our ability to compete effectively.”
