Fans of Yan Can Cook will be disappointed to hear that celebrity chef Martin Yan has closed his Graton Resort restaurant, M.Y. China. Now they’ll have to go to a downtown San Francisco mall to enjoy his popular cuisine. The Graton venue closed Monday.
The Graton Resort and Casino near Rohnert Park is undergoing a $175 million expansion and a brief statement released by the casino noted only that the restaurant, “closed its doors to make way for an exciting new restaurant,” according to the Press Democrat.
The M.Y. China closure marks the second of four anchor restaurants to close since the casino opened a little over two years ago. Earlier, after just two months in business, celebrity chef Douglas Keane closed his DK Wings outlet there and it was replaced by a grab and go eatery.
Chef Martin Yan is well known for his cooking show, “Yan Can Cook.” At the end of each show the chef signs off with the catchphrase, “If Yan can cook, so can you!” Casino-goers will no longer be able to enjoy the entertainment of the ‘interactive noodle dance’ seeing chefs hand-pull Dragon Beard noodles into 16,000 strands.
