Privately-held gaming and entertainments operator Delaware North Companies has announced that its developing slots-only facility in the small Long Island village of Islandia has been re-branded as Jake’s 58 Hotel And Casino.

Buffalo-based Delaware North Companies is set to operate the New York venue on behalf of the Suffolk County Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation and revealed that the name change is due to take effect from Wednesday.

Delaware North Companies purchased the 277-room Islandia Marriott Long Island hotel near Exit 58 of the Long Island Expressway in August and explained that it has since been busy transforming the property’s banquet and conference facilities in order to accommodate an initial complement of 250 video lottery terminals. Due to open from later this month, this offering will grow to 1,000 machines by the summer while moreover including a pair of off-track betting and simulcast kiosks alongside an expanded Bistro 58 restaurant.

“The new name is symbolic of Delaware North Companies’ commitment to and enthusiasm for bringing a first-rate entertainment and hotel property to Islandia,” read a statement from Chuck Kilroy, General Manager for the coming Suffolk County venue. “Our renovations to create a destination gaming venue are in full swing and we are also committed to keeping the hotel a preferred lodging option for travelers to Long Island.”

Delaware North Companies declared that the Jake’s 58 Hotel And Casino name is a “nod” to the Jacobs family, which established the company in 1915 and subsequently led its transformation into one of the nation’s largest food service, entertainments and hospitality providers.

“With its long-time presence in the industry, Delaware North Companies prides itself on providing the very best in food and entertainment at high-profile places such as gaming facilities, sports venues, airports, national and state parks, fine-dining restaurants and resorts around the world,” read a statement from Delaware North Companies.

In conjunction with the re-branding, Delaware North Companies stated that it soon plans to launch the new Jakes58.com website for the venue while Tony Pancella, Vice-President for the Suffolk County Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation, recently told local newspaper Newsday that his firm intends to ask the eastern state’s legislature to agree to a further 1,000 machines for the facility at some point in the near future.

“As part of its ongoing development of the property, Delaware North Companies is upgrading the hotel’s security system and installing improved fencing around a portion of the hotel’s parking lot,” read the statement from Delaware North Companies. “The company’s core business systems and processes will also be integrated into the venue’s operations including its highly regarded customer service program, GuestPath, and its environmental management program, GreenPath.”
