Scientific Games Corporation has announced new retail technology involving a lottery instant game is set to be tested in eight states via 7-Eleven stores. SCiQ has been approved for testing in 7-Eleven’s with the installation of the new SCiQ dispensers. Pilots are now live in Arizona, Texas, Ohio, South Carolina, Maine and North Carolina. Installations are scheduled for Georgia, Pennsylvania and New York.
In a press release on the launch, Group Chief Executive of the Lottery for Scientific Games, Jim Kennedy, commented: “Lottery instant games are an $80.7 billion consumer product and a major driver of retail store visits. Yet there has never been unit level technology that manage product security, inventory control, merchandising, speed-of-service and accounting for retailers. SciQ is set to revolutionize the way lottery products are sold at retail.”
Scientific Games created SCiQ as a way to improve the lottery financial performance for products and remove the challenges that arise with selling lottery products in retail outlets. On the consumer side, the new technology allows customers to easily and conveniently use mobile technology to make purchases.
With SCiQ technology, a sales associate of the retail venue will choose the games the customer wishes to purchase via a digital ordering screen. Payment is then collected, and the games dispensed via the SCiQ system. The games are then given to the player.
