Swedish online casino operator Global Gaming has announced that Stefan Olsson (pictured) will be voluntarily stepping down as its Chief Executive Officer from next month in order to head up its newly-established Global Gaming Labs innovations division.
Malmo-headquartered Global Gaming is responsible for several Scandinavian online casino brands including Viking Slots, Ninja Casino, Kotikasino, NettiCasino and Mr Spil and revealed that Olsson has been its boss for ten years but is to be officially replaced on an interim basis from May 1 by its current Chief Operating Officer, Joacim Moller.
In describing the reason behind his resignation, Olsson proclaimed that he is ‘a developer at heart as well as a problem solver and entrepreneur’ but that the recent success of Global Gaming has meant that he doesn’t ‘get to be those things very much these days’.
“It’s been an amazing journey all along, both for me personally and for Global Gaming,” read a Thursday statement from Olsson. “I want to devote myself to ground-breaking innovation, which is why I am confident this new role is what I am meant to be doing, while others in the organization focus on handling our growth into more and more countries and a growing number of new shareholders.”
Global Gaming stated that it has already begun the process of finding a more permanent replacement for Olsson while declaring that its decision to appoint Moller on an interim basis will aid a ‘smooth transition’. It further detailed that its future temporary boss has ‘a background as an officer in the Swedish armed forces’ and joined its ranks only 18 months ago after periods working in communications and human resources roles for Scania and Hoist Group.
“Every day we take steps to ensure we continue to grow without losing sight of our capacity for innovation,” read a statement from Moller. “We are constantly striving to generate new ideas and I am proud, excited and humbled to be part of this reorganization and the continued work to create value for our shareholders.”
