GGPoker, flagship online poker skin of GGNetwork, together with Battle of Malta organizers Casino Malta by Olympic Casino have announced they will host the 2020 version of the popular festival in November.

The highly anticipated 2020 Battle of Malta live event was originally scheduled for October but was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Prize pool:

A $550 Main Event boasting a huge guaranteed cash prize pool of $3,000,000 will headline the series, which will reportedly kick off on November 1 and run through November 22.

Director of Live Events & Sponsorships for GGPoker, John Scanlon, commented about the 21-day event, saying…

“I’m genuinely excited to announce that the Battle of Malta 2020 will be hosted at GGPoker.

“It’s an honor to be unveiled as the organizers’ preferred online partner, and I’m confident that this year’s Battle of Malta will be bigger and better than ever!”

Event success:

One of Europe’s biggest poker events, Battle of Malta is designed for low-to-mid-stakes poker players and is “synonymous with fun and the lighter side of the world’s favorite card game,” according to the source.

The 2019 iteration of the event, which took place in October at the InterContinental Arena and was hosted by Casino Malta, broke records for the eighth consecutive year, generating 4,657 entries and a prize pool of €2,258,645.

It eclipsed the previous year’s festival by nearly 1,000 players and saw Serghei Lisii earn the first-place finish after defeating Steven van Zadelhoff in heads-up play. The two cut a deal for €217,167 each and decided to play it out for the remaining €30k and the tournament trophy.

Return of live event:

Originally slated for October again, General Manager for Casino Malta, Slawomir Świtalski, said…
