The 2017 World Series of Poker Europe has continued at King’s Casino, with the “Little One for One Drop” being one of the latest events to wrap up. Poker player Albert Hoekendijk was the eventual winner of the tournament, having outlasted a field of 868 players to earn the first place finish. The event is a regular tournament option on the WSOP and WSOPE schedule, helping to raise money for the One Drop charity, which aids in providing sustainable access to clean drinking water to impoverished communities worldwide.

With his first gold bracelet win, Albert earned the €170,764 ($199,794 USD) top prize and became the fifth player from the Netherlands to earn a WSOP title. The Little One for One Drop was one of two charity tournaments on offer during the World Series of Poker Europe this year. The Rozvadov casino hosted the WSOPE for the first time ever this year and has seen great success. The charity event had such a good turnout that €43,400 was raised for the One Drop charity.

During the final day of the Little One event, Albert came into the event 7th in chips. Only 11 players remained so he was sitting towards the end when it came to chip stacks. In the end, Albert was able to gain ground and ended up facing off against Thomas Hofmann in heads-up play once the event was narrowed down to the final two.

Heads-up play would last for around three hours before the final hand would take place. In the end, Hofmann would be all in with Albert quickly calling. Hofmann held Q-3 while Albert showed A-10. The board fell A-J-6-7-A which gave Albert trip aces and secured him the WSOP gold.
