The Borgata Spring Poker Open is a yearly event that poker players look forward to. Each year, players head to the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City to play, both amateurs and professionals alike. This year, however, the event was not going to take place due to the casino closures amidst the coronavirus outbreak. Instead of not hosting the event, the Borgata is working with the partypoker US network to host the series online.
It took a little finesse but now the event is titled the Borgata Spring Poker Open Online Series and can be played throughout New Jersey via the internet. The series will feature 17 events online with buy-ins ranging from $5 to $1,060. A few events have already finished up, including Event #3, a $15,000 guaranteed PLO 6-Max Rebuy tournament. The event had 48 players competing, with Ari “spinach_kale” Engel taking down the first-place prize.
Details of the Event:
Event #3 was the first high-stakes Omaha event to take place during the series. The poker tournament had a total of 48 entries with the late registration and rebuy time frame resulting in 60 rebuys and 22 add-ons. It would take a short time for the event to whittle down to two tables and then the final six would remain to duke it out for first place.
Once the final table would start, players would begin to drop. In the end, it was online poker player Flawlessbinkage and spinach_kale (aka Ari) who made it to heads up play.
According to the source…
During the heads-up round, Flawlessbinkage took the chip lead. He would pull away for a short time but then Ari would begin to build momentum and in about 15 minutes gain the lead and then eventually claim the first-place win.
Event #3 Final Table Results:
|First||Spinach_kale (Ari Engel)||$6,300|
The Borgata Spring Poker Open Online continues today with Event #5, a $15,000 GTD NLH Black Chip Bounty and Event #1 PHASED Day 1C. Additional events will take place through April 12th as the series continues.
