As another New Year rolls around, poker players know that Aussie Millions is right around the corner. The popular poker series has started for 2020 and already, players are descending upon Crown Melbourne to take part. The Opening Event has already begun for the 2020 Aussie Millions, a tournament that saw 1,752 players competing last year. For 2020, the festival will include 23 championship events with players from around the world vying for a first-place finish.
Getting Started:
For the 2020 series to get started, Joel Williams, tournament director, welcomed players and staff members to the tournament. Williams stated that the series is committed to providing one of the world’s top poker offerings and are confident that they will provide a world-class series that residents of Australia can be proud of.
During the ceremonial opening round, Williams gave the shuffle up and deal announcement and the Opening Event was ready to go.
The Opening Event at Crowne Melbourne had 242 players competing during the first of five flights. A total of 28 players were able to move on to Day 2. A second flight took place on Sunday with those hanging on ready to participate in Day 2 as well.
One other poker event began over the weekend on Sunday, with a H.O.R.S.E. tournament, featuring a $2,500 buy-in. Event #3 kicks off on January 9th, offering Pot Limit Omaha action for $1,150 while Event #4 is a No Limit Hold’em Mix Max affair.
Going into the weekend, the series will see Event #5, 6, 7 and 8 begin. Players will be able to take part in No Limit Hold’em action, a Deep Freeze, Pot Limit Omaha and more.
