Playing the lottery is a common occurrence across the U.S., and in states where the lottery is offered, it is not uncommon for a player to purchase a lottery ticket on a regular basis, even every day. Lottery players hope to earn a big win and see their lives changed forever. It is hard to imagine winning a $1m lottery prize, but imagine winning multiple lottery prizes, in excess of over $6m. This is exactly what one lottery player in California was able to do.

We all hope to win one big jackpot in our lifetime, but in southern California, Antulio Mazariegos was able to win more than $6m within a six-month period, including a $5m prize from one game played this month. According to Fox8, Mazariegos visited the state Lottery’s Van Nuys District Office recently with a scratchers ticket worth $5m. The winning ticket had been purchased in Van Nuys at Liquor Bank on Vanowen Street.

Mazariegos reportedly told lottery officials that there were only three California Black Premium Scratchers left at the store, so he bought all of them. According to a press release from the state lottery,  during the same visit, Mazariegos also turned in two additional winning tickets worth $1,000 and $600. As if that wasn’t lucky enough, in November last year Mazariegos reportedly won $1m playing another scratch-off ticket.

In speaking with lottery officials, Mazariegos stated that he wasn’t sure why he has been so lucky lately, that he just likes to play the game.
