Just days after the Hard Rock Casino of Las Vegas reported they were subject to a security breach, another casino is now reporting a possible data breach incident. An internal investigation has begun at the FireKeepers Casino and Hotel located in Battle Creek, Michigan to try to confirm if a breach of data did in fact take place.

The management of the FireKeeper’s casino have decided to give customers the information they have so far so they can remain informed about the situation. On the casino’s website a statement has been published that includes information on the investigation. An independent IT forensic expert has been called in to review the system when several customers contacted the property after they noticed problems with their credit card or bank statements.

Law enforcement has been notified of the issue and the casino has installed new point of sale equipment for the casino, restaurants, hotel and shops. The POS devices of the facility have not been found to have been compromised but the company wants to be safe just in case.

The company is advising their customers to watch financial statements closely for any discrepancies and report any suspicious activity. Customers who had transactions take place online or at ATMs located at the hotel or casino are not at risk due to these systems not being part of the payment card processing system of the casino.
