Online performance marketing firm Catena Media has announced that it has spent $350,000 in order to acquire PokerScout.com along with all of the online poker traffic comparison website’s related assets.

Catena Media has offices in the United Kingdom, Malta and Serbia and declared that the purchase is part of its ‘growth strategy’ and will ‘strengthen its presence in the United States market’ only days after lawmakers in Pennsylvania passed legislation to legalize online gambling.

Describing PokerScout.com as ‘an iconic name in the online poker industry’ that will contribute to its ‘brand-first strategy’, Catena Media explained that it now intends help the domain continue to grow by improving its ‘usability and visibility’.

Henrik Persson Ekdahl, Chief Executive Officer for Catena Media, proclaimed that he is ‘proud’ of his firm’s purchase of PokerScout.com and expects to see new- revenues originating from the Pennsylvanian market following the imminent launch of regulated online gambling in the state.

“This acquisition is well-timed given that Pennsylvania is set to open its market for online gaming,” read a statement from Ekdahl. “We hope that more states will follow in Pennsylvania’s footsteps. We have been prepared for a long time and this is a milestone for our continued expansion in the United States.”

Catena Media disclosed that it is already responsible for ‘multiple media assets in Pennsylvania’ alongside owning ‘several domains tailored to the market’ and that these properties are complemented by its ‘market-leading portfolio’ aimed at regulated online gaming enterprises in neighboring New Jersey.
