The Resorts World Catskills casino is on track to open this February, offering visitors a 100,000-square foot gaming floor, featuring 2,150 slot machines and 130 table games. The property includes a 5-Star/5-Diamond all-suite hotel as well as dining and entertainment options, among other amenities. There are also plans to create a four-season water park and luxury hotel next to the Resorts World Catskills, with plans for the project, recently revealed.

Just yesterday, the plans for the two-acre water park and luxury hotel were unveiled by Arthur Berry III and Ken Ellis, the co-owners of Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark located in the Poconos. The developers are working on the Catskills water park, which is titled Kartrite Hotel & Indoor Waterpark. The plans call for $150 million to be spent on the project and a projected opening for early 2019.

The water park parcel of 25 acres in New York is owned by EPR Properties and Aquatic Development Group, a company owned by Ellis’, will be constructing the water park. Once the Kartrite water park is complete, it will be part of a group of indoor family water parks in the region, alongside the Great Wolf Lodge and the Camelback property.

According to the Record Online, the water park is named Kartrite after the fictional character of the Camelback Resort, Sir Kartrite Van Der Berris. Sir Kartrite has many titles including an adventurer, an explorer, a submariner and teacher, among others. His image will be depicted within the water park telling the tales of his adventures.

The new water park will not be limited to casino guests. The park will be open to everyone and include 15 attractions. In the mix will be a children’s area, teenager activity pool, adventure river, seven water slides and more.

The new complex will be 430,000 square feet in size and will create more employment for the region. It is expected that as many as 600 permanent positions will be available within the property, and during construction, as many as 250 jobs will be created.
