Following the recent passage of legislation that is to allow Chicago host a casino for the very first time and the giant city’s mayor, Lori Lightfoot, has reportedly launched an online survey that is asking residents to suggest an ideal site for the envisioned facility.

Assessing apprehensions:

According to a Friday report from the Chicago edition of the Curbed real estate blog, the Democratic politician is also encouraging respondents to voice any concerns they may have about the coming development and suggest what programs its revenues should be used to fund.

Reportedly read a July 26 statement from Lightfoot…

“Chicago’s first casino is coming and we need Chicagoans to weigh in before planning gets underway. Take the official survey and let us know what you think.”

Ongoing examinations:

Curbed reported that the Illinois Gaming Board is already conducting feasibility studies on five potential sites for the new urban casino while recently-elected Lightfoot detailed that the survey is an attempt to gain more information about what residents of Chicago want and need. The 56-year-old purportedly also explained that the questionnaire is due to remain open throughout the autumn although her office intends to publish its preliminary findings along with the results of the regulator’s inquiry sometime next month.

Lightfoot’s statement reportedly read…

“While the prospect of a new casino holds tremendous potential for generating new revenues and stimulating economic opportunity for Chicago, we are committed to a transparent process for ensuring all voices can be heard as the city moves forward on this historic project.”

Gubernatorial granting:

All part of the Rebuild Illinois scheme approved earlier this month by Illinois Governor Jay Robert Pritzker, the Chicago casino is to featuring approximately 4,000 slot and table game seats and be joined by five similar venues to be individually located in Lake County and Williamson County as well as in the communities of Rockford, Waukegan and Danville.
