iGaming Business – The Coral bookmaker brand of betting operator Gala Coral Group has agreed a deal to become the new main sponsor of English Super League rugby league club Wigan Warriors.

The one-year deal will run for the duration of the 2015 season.

Under the agreement, which marks Coral’s first venture into rugby league sponsorship, the bookmaker will become the main shirt sponsor of the team, with company branding appearing on the front of the players’ jerseys and replica kits.

Coral will also benefit from branding on LED advertising boards inside the club’s DW Stadium home ground.

In addition, Coral will offer its customers special prices on bets featuring the Warriors.

“With 1,800 shops across the United Kingdom coupled with millions of online customers, it is clear that the Warriors will receive exposure on a scale that we haven’t seen before,” Wigan’s sales director, Geoff Warburton, said.

“We hope that this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship for both parties.”
