After months of delays, Indian casino operator Delta Corporation Limited has finally received a provisional license to operate a casino in the small north-eastern state of Sikkim and now intends to open its Casino Deltin Denzong facility inside Gangtok‘s Denzong Regency Hotel featuring some 150 gaming positions before the end of the month.
Mumbai-listed Delta Corporation Limited already operates the floating Deltin Caravela, Deltin Royale and Deltin Jaqk in the state of Goa and is expected to venture further onshore soon with the inauguration of its Delta Daman casino in the western territory of Daman offering up to 1,500 gaming positions.
“The company is fully ready to commence its casino operations and will do so immediately,” read a statement from Delta Corporation Limited.
The news prompted the value of shares in Delta Corporation Limited, which is the only publicly-listed casino operator in India, to rise by over 3%, while the firm moreover revealed that it runs a trio of Goan luxury hotel properties in its Deltin Suites, Deltin Palms and Villa Marina By Deltin.
Bordering China, Nepal and Bhutan, Sikkim is a mountainous state of some 600,000 people and already features two operational casinos in the Casino Sikkim inside the Hotel Royal Plaza and the Mayfair Spa Resort’s Casino Mahjong.
